Dance Disciplines
Ballet: Graceful, flowing and highly technical. Class includes barre work and centre work and mime.
Acro: Acrobatic gymnastics, which includes tumbling, balance and agility. Gymnastic floor mats are used in classroom practice.
Dance Readiness: Introduces the young dancers to Ballet, creative movement, musicality, rhythm and expression. Skills practiced are appropiate to child's level of physical and intellectual development.
Lyrical: Combines Jazz, Ballet and Modern dance forms. The dancer is to convey the emotion of a song's lyrics.
Jazz: Energetic and fun, consists of leaps, turns and across the floor combinations practiced with various styles and music choices.
Hiphop: Wide range of street dance styles include breaking, popping, locking, krumping and freestyle.
Contemporary: Modern in style. Currently, the popular style we see on "So You Think You Can Dance". Combines Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Lyrical.
Musical Theatre: A form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance.
Tap: American theatrical dance using various rhythmical patterns of foot movement with audible tapping from shoes.
